Mango tied to Windows Phone Marketplace

In addition to today’s Windows Phone 7 Mango software and hardware announcements, there is another tidbit aimed squarely at Windows Phone web use: the Mango update will also include a new version of the online Windows Phone Marketplace.

Similar to Google’s Android Market and RIM’s BlackBerry App World, the Mango edition of the online marketplace will sell and download games from the website directly to the Windows phone.

Details are sparse, though more on the Mango Marketplace will soon be coming, assured Matt Bencke, general manager for the Windows Phone Developer and Marketplace Experiences, in his message to developers.

Microsoft will also announce the date that developers can start submitting Mango apps for certification in the upcoming weeks.
