Unboxing the Nokia Lumia 920

The Nokia Lumia 920 is now the best-selling handset running Microsoft’s Windows Phone software. At least that’s what specialty Windows Phone application advertising firm AdDuplex says.
Indeed according to AdDuplex, and reported by Windows Phone Central, the Lumia 920 enjoys 14 percent of the entire Windows Phone market. That may not sound like much, but Nokia will be glad to learn its Lumia 800 also grabbed a 14 percent slice of the pie. And right behind that sits older Lumia devices such as the 710 (13 percent), Lumia 610 (11 percent), 820 (8 percent), and 620 (7 percent). Windows Phone Central said the full report will be available on AdDuplex’s site tomorrow.

In fact, in total Nokia devices claim 8 of the 10 spots (aside from “other”) in the chart, giving Nokia the lion’s share. Still that shouldn’t come as a huge surprise given Nokia’s pledged support for the Windows Phone platform. It’s also a good bet that the Lumia 920 is well received thanks to its compelling list of advanced features. Chief among them is the handset’s excellent camera, which performed admirably in CNET Asia’s recent photo shootout.
Of course it remains to be seen whether Nokia’s dominating WP market position will be enough for it to claw back sales from Android or even iPhone devices. That’s especially true with the HTC One just beginning to hit U.S. shores and the Samsung Galaxy S4 right around the corner.
