Live Connected goes beyond BYO with new phone plans

Telco alternative Live Connected has introduced new phone plans in recent weeks, moving beyond its BYO phone business model.

The company seems to be sticking to premium models, too, offering the Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X and Nokia Lumia 920, with the Galaxy Note 2 launching soon. All phones are AU$0 upfront, and Live Connected is offering three months of a new contract for free as an introductory bonus — six months, if you choose the most expensive plans.

Despite the Live Connected service being powered by the Optus Network, the plan structure is much closer to Telstra’s current offers, with small, medium, large and extra-large options. The plan inclusions are very similar, too, but AU$10 cheaper each month through Live Connected.

Live Connected customers also benefit from the recent Optus 4G network upgrades if they use a compatible phone within the current 4G footprint. At this time, the Lumia 920 is the only 4G phone on offer through the Live Connected plans.
