What do you call a Windows Phone 7 Series phone? We’re going with ‘WinPhoSev phone’, but we’re open to suggestions. Whatever it’s called, LG has chucked the first branded WP7S-p into the spotlight on Engadget‘s video podcast.
Aaron Woodman of Microsoft showed an early prototype of an LG phone
sporting Windows Phone 7 Series, showing off the Start screen, Bing search engine and other multimedia
options. It’s the first time anyone has displayed Windows Phone 7 Series on a branded phone.
You can check out WinPhoSev’s features in our Windows Phone 7 video on an unbranded demo device.
LG hasn’t confirmed the specs or name of the phone, but Engadget reports it’s slightly thicker than the iPhone, with a 5-megapixel camera with a flash and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
It’s also clear from the images that there’s a slide-out Qwerty keyboard, and the back, home and search buttons that big bad Ballmer told us would be required on all WinPheven phones.
LG says it aims to bring the phone to shops towards the end of this year. Microsoft has already stated that WinPheven should be with us before ‘the holidays’, which is a nebulous period in the States that could be Halloween and could be Christmas.
