Following the tremendous reception of its current flagship model, the G3, LG will be releasing a more affordable iteration called the “G3 Beat” in Korea this Friday, July 18.

Although unannounced as of yet, the price is not expected to exceed $500 (which converts to £290, AU$535). The G3 Beat will then launch in Europe, Russia, China, and the Middle East in the coming months. It will be called the “LG G3 S” in Europe and Russia, however.

The G3 Beat leaves unchanged most of the G3’s best features — most notably its camera features — but scales down the size with a smaller 5-inch HD IPS screen and a lower resolution of 1,280×720 pixels.

The mid-range phone packs a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and a 2,610mAh battery. The camera resolution will be 8 megapixels, as opposed to the G3’s 13 megapixels, but will retain the “laser auto focus” and “gesture shot” features. The G3 Beat will be offered in metallic black, silk white and shiny gold.

LG also plans to release the G3 Cat.6, another G3 iteration that can run on Korea’s newly developed LTE-A broadband network.
