LG shows off G Watch wearing Android Wear

Watch out, it’s the LG G Watch.

LG has revealed a picture of the forthcoming smartwatch set to become one of the first wearable devices to be powered by Google’s Android Wear.

LG took to Twitter to show off the image of the G Watch, although it has yet to reveal any specs. LG says the G Watch is “Coming Soon!”

Android Wear is a modified version of the mobile Android operating system adapted for watches and other wearable devices. Because wearable devices may sport only a small screen — or maybe no screen at all — it makes heavy use of Google Now voice recognition.

LG joins Asus, HTC, Motorola, and Samsung in making hardware that runs Android Wear, with Broadcom, Imagination, Intel, MediaTek, and Qualcomm as chip partners.

Forthcoming devices to use Android Wear also include Motorola’s planned Moto 360 . Other smartwatches ready to adorn wrists include the unfortunately-named I’m Watch , the fancy Meta smartwatch , and the Samsung Gear 2 .
