LG’s rumoured Nexus phone has been photographed, in a series of blurry snaps that show off a glitzy sequin-style pattern on the phone’s rear casing.
The pictures surfaced at Android Central, and offer a glimpse at what could be the next smart phone to arrive running an un-meddled version of Google’s Android operating system.
The phone in the pictures has rounded-corners and a lack of physical buttons that’s highly reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. More intriguing is the strip of chrome around the sides, which matches an earlier report from a source who claimed to have had some hands-on time.
That lends credibility to these latest snaps. Earlier reports peg LG’s Nexus phone as having 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera and 8 or 16GB of storage. There’s no MicroSD card slot though apparently.
Nexus devices differ from most Android mobiles in that they run raw or ‘vanilla’ Android, rather than a version that’s been tinkered with by a manufacturer.
Running unhampered Android means no manufacturer-imposed bloatware, and faster updates when new software is released. HTC is reportedly also cooking up a 5-inch Nexus phone.
The LG Nexus is supposedly based on the Optimus G and will run Android 4.2, which is tipped to be an updated version of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
