There’s an LG event next week, and all bets are on the Optimus G being unveiled. Those bets look even more of a sure thing, seeing as LG has posted an advert for the handset on YouTube.
The ad will air in LG’s native Korea once the handset has launched. But it doesn’t reveal much about the phone. It’s filled with people enjoying themselves — videoing some planes flying about, a man underwater strumming a guitar (seriously), businessmen splashing in a puddle, and a man on a Segway. Then at the end we see the phone.
It’s bonkers. But it does all but confirm the Optimus G will be launched at the event in New York on Wednesday.
The Optimus G looks to be quite a doozy, with a 4.7-inch screen that has a pixel count of 320 pixels per inch. That’s pretty close to the iPhone’s 326ppi retina display. On the back is a 13-megapixel camera with an hilarious-sounding Cheese Mode, which snaps a picture when you say a pre-programmed word. Can’t wait to test that one.
It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, clocked at 1.5GHz. And it’s 4G-enabled, thanks to its LTE powers. Seeing as EE is about to unleash 4G on these shores in the guise of 4GEE, the Optimus G will hopefully keep its LTE skills here in Blighty. That would make it the LG Optimus G 4G LTE on 4GEE, which is a mouthful.
HTC is holding an event the same day to lift the lid on its first Windows Phone 8 handset. And the iPhone 5 will be on sale on Friday. Quite a week.
What do you reckon of the Optimus G? Let me know in the comments or on Facebook.
