LG may launch its own Chrome OS devices

LG Electronics could be prepping to jump into the Chrome OS market.

The company filed for trademarks on three names that contain the word Chrome — ChromeOne, ChromeDesk, and ChromeStation. Filed on October 15, all three trademarks list the device class as “Laptop computers; Computers; Convertible computers; Tablet computers.”

In January of 2012, LG signed a deal with Microsoft that allows it to use operating system patents for devices running Android and Chrome OS. LG has also already teamed up with Google to create the Nexus 4 smartphone and the upcoming Nexus 5, so a Chrome OS partnership could be a natural next step.
