LG Electronics could be prepping to jump into the Chrome OS market.
The company filed for trademarks on three names that contain the word Chrome — ChromeOne, ChromeDesk, and ChromeStation. Filed on October 15, all three trademarks list the device class as “Laptop computers; Computers; Convertible computers; Tablet computers.”
In January of 2012, LG signed a deal with Microsoft that allows it to use operating system patents for devices running Android and Chrome OS. LG has also already teamed up with Google to create the Nexus 4 smartphone and the upcoming Nexus 5, so a Chrome OS partnership could be a natural next step.
