Forget dropping the post-Christmas pounds, LG is working the chunk with the LG GW990 — a phone so big it’s pushing into tablet territory.
The GW990 uses Intel’s new CPU, codenamed “Moorestown”, which powers the phone’s marvellous multitasking skills. Not only do apps run in the background, they run simultaneously in the foreground — LG demonstrated the GW990 running three apps at the same time on its epic 122mm (4.8-inch) screen.
That huge screen packs in 1024×480-pixel resolution, which should make it a great movie-watching and web-browsing phone. It also has 16GB of memory on-board with room for more thanks to a microSD expansion slot.
There’s a 5-megapixel camera on the back, and Wi-Fi and HSPA support for fast web surfing over 3G.
We’re still waiting to find out whether the GW990 will have a price as beefy as its body, but we should know before it arrives on shelves in the second half of the year.
