LG has just sent out invites to upcoming events simultaneously taking place around the world late next month, and they likely point to one thing: the unveiling of its new flagship handset, the LG G4.
The South Korean electronics giant will host the events on April 28 and April 29 (due to time zones) in six cities: New York, London, Paris, Seoul, Singapore and Istanbul.
The media invite comes with an interesting “see the great, feel the great” tagline, and the image suggests its next smartphone may be coming with a stitched leather back. If so, it would be a very interesting move on LG’s part, given its handsets have traditionally been plastic (apart from the Optimus G ).
Just last week, a report surfaced saying that the G4 was slated for a late April release. The upcoming flagship was also rumored to sport a radically new design, drawing design elements from the LG G Flex 2 , including a curved display. A real stitched leather back would also set it apart from the metallic Samsung Galaxy S6 as well.
Besides a new design, rumors are also saying the new smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and pack a wide-angle, 16-megapixel rear camera with laser focus.
LG was contacted by CNET, but declined to comment.
CNET will be on hand to cover the event, so be sure to check back closer to the date.
