LG G Flex hitting Europe in international rollout

LG told us before that its G Flex banana phone wasn’t scheduled to hit the UK. But here’s a sign it could reach us Brits after all, and quite soon as well. Chinese site 3G.cn reports LG has sent out invites to an event in Hong Kong on Tuesday to announce the international rollout of the G Flex, Unwired View reports.

Orange’s French arm has announced it’ll start selling the G Flex in February, and the US will also have to wait until 2014. With an international launch planned, surely it won’t be long before us Brits get a go with the bendy blower. France is only a couple of hours away by Eurostar, after all. I’ve asked LG if the G Flex will make it to these shores, and if so when, and will update this story if I hear back.

An LG spokesperson told ETNews last month: “We are going to export [the G Flex] to the US, Europe and Japan.” But that’s all we’ve heard so far from the horse’s mouth.

The G Flex is curved to fit your face. Samsung also has its own bendy blower, the Galaxy Round, but it’s curved on a different axis. Lay it on a table, press the edge, and it’s designed to tilt up so you can see notifications without picking it up and unlocking it. Handy.

The G Flex packs in some pretty heavyweight specs. It has a 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip, 2GB of RAM, and a 3,500mAh battery. It also has special ‘healing powers’, which LG compared to Wolverine from the X-Men. Very intriguing. It’s been on sale in its native South Korea since last month.

Would you use a curved phone? Or are they just a fad? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook page.
