Will the next iPhone tower in size over the current lineup?

Apple’s next iPhone is expected to offer a bigger screen size, and a new image purportedly shows just how big.

Posted by a user to a Chinese online forum Weibo on Tuesday, the image displays the front face of what may (or may not be) the iPhone 6, according to French blog site iphon.fr. The image shows the panel alongside an iPhone 5S, leading iphone.fr to speculate that the new iPhone’s display will be 4.1 inches high and around 2.35 inches wide. In comparison, the screen for the current iPhone lineup is 3.5 inches high and 2 inches wide.

The photo itself should be taken with the usual grain of salt as its source is decidedly unverified.

Recent rumors point to Apple bumping up the screen size of the iPhone 6 to 4.7 inches from the current 4 inches. Some also say Apple will unveil a second iPhone with a screen size of 5.5 inches.

Nokia could be prepping a big-screened Lumia smartphone, at least judging from a new image that’s popped up online.

A photo served up by Chinese blog WPDang displays the front glass housing for a large-screen device. A close-up of the image provided by The Verge clearly shows the name Lumia at the top.

The exact size of the screen is difficult to determine from the photo. The Verge believes it could be a 6-inch display based in part on reports that Nokia is currently testing 6-inch devices among other large-screen Lumias. In April, the Financial Times said Nokia was reportedly planning a 5-inch Lumia phone, or “phablet,” to compete with devices such as Samsung’s Galaxy Note.

The original Galaxy Note sported a screen size of 5.3 inches. The Note 2 topped that at 5.5 inches.

For now, talk of a large-screen Lumia has to be dropped into the rumor category. But Nokia does seem to be moving in the direction of bigger screens. On Tuesday, it revealed the Lumia 625 with a 4.7-inch screen, the largest Lumia Windows Phone handset so far on the market.
