The device will be T-Mobile’s first Kyocera handset, but it’ll only be offered through the carrier’s business-to-business market.
Aside from being able to survive a meter-deep swim underwater for 30 minutes, the phone also has 4G LTE connectivity and a 4-inch WVGA display.
In addition, it features Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, expandable memory, and a 2,000mAh battery that managed 5.53 hours of continuous video playback during our battery drain test.
The XTRM also has a dual-core Snapdragon 1.2GHz processor and a 5-megapixel camera that can record 1080p HD video. Unfortunately, we found its internal speeds to be sluggish at times, and the camera’s photo quality was mediocre.
However, its waterproof capabilities and shock resistance did work as well as expected, so the days of worrying about dropping your phone in the pool can be over.
