Kogan Mobile has today announced to customers that in two days’ time, its services will significantly increase in price.
Kogan Mobile launched its prepaid mobile plans in December last year, with highly competitive pricing. That’s all set to change.
The company has announced today via its website and an email to customers that its pricing is going up on 1 August.
The price increase is the most dramatic for the lower tiers. The company’s 2GB Data plan, currently AU$9.99 per month, will be increased by 50 per cent to AU$14.99.
The Access 30 plan will be increasing 33 per cent from AU$29 to AU$39, while Access 90 plan will be increasing 25 per cent from AU$79 to AU$99, and the Access 365 plan will be increasing 10 per cent from AU$299 to AU$329.
“We are proud to continue to offer the best prepaid deals in the Australian market, and we will work hard to continue to further improve our offering,” Kogan said on its website. “The price increase on our Access 365 Plan is around 8 cents per day from our current offer. The feedback from Kogan Mobile has been tremendous, and we are proud to now serve more than 110,000 active customers.”
The price change comes about after Kogan Mobile’s policy changes in the wake of the ISPOne lawsuit, in the Supreme Court of Victoria found the latter guilty of breaching its obligations under the Master Wholesale Agreement and ordered ISPOne to pay damages to Kogan Mobile. The company recently announced to customers that it would be revising its acceptable use policy to clarify the metrics used to define “unreasonable use”.
The Kogan Mobile website has stated since the pricing went live that it is a “special offer”, valid only until 31 July 2013, and has advertised the upcoming change since mid-July.
