The discount is offered in celebration of Cyber Monday, a made-up day purported to be the day in which shoppers spend the most money online as we race to get our Christmas shopping done in time for delivery.
The Kindle Fire HDX usually starts at £199 for the 16GB model with adverts, or ‘Special Offers’, on the lock screen. Ditching the ads costs an extra tenner. Thirty quid has been knocked off across the range of 16GB, 32Gb and 64GB models with Wi-Fi, but there’s no money off the 4G model.
The 7-inch HDX boasts a detailed high-definition 1,920×1,200-pixel screen, with a quad-core processor and a choice of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB memory. The software is Amazon’s heavily customised Fire OS 3.0 Mojito interface slapped on top of Android. It’s certainly an easy device for the less tech-savvy to get to grips with, but in our in-depth review we feel there are better tablets out there, not least the Nexus 7.
Ordering a new Kindle Fire tablet earns you £4 in Amazon Coins, Amazon’s online currency that you can spend on apps, games and in-app items from the Amazon Appstore and on your Kindle Fire. Owners of the current Kindle Fire HD and those who have ordered the new Kindle Fire HDX get a free 400 Coins, which translates to four quid to spend.
