What appears to be promotional or marketing material for an LG Gx has made its way online. According to the source of the images in a report, the device has a 5.5-inch 1080p HD display, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and LTE-Advanced support.
It’s purported to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, and a 3,140mAh battery. Based on the reports, the so-called Gx appears to fall somewhere between the Optimus G and G2.
It is not clear if LG plans to keep this particular model local or whether it will venture outside its Korean market. The handset maker occasionally launches devices in its own backyard and then gradually deploys variants to other markets.
The Gx closely follows another recently rumored LG smartphone, the presumed G2 Mini. Speculation surfaced this week suggesting a smaller version of the flagship G2 is in the works. With a display size said to be 4.7 inches, the device may maintain the same hardware configuration.
With CES and Mobile World Congress fast approaching, we might look for more details on these, and other, smartphones over the next few weeks. Reports like these may be the prelude to LG debuting a handful of new smartphones on the eve of MWC in February.
