I’m a sucker for a good iPhone stand, especially when it’s cheap, practical, and available in lots of purty colors.
That’s the iFoldAway in a nutshell. It’s cheap (about $8.90 shipped from the U.K.), practical (it weighs almost nothing and folds up flat as a credit card), and available in your choice of eight colors: pink, red, white, yellow, black, etc.
The stand is made of Priplak Polypropylene, one of those space-age polymer plastics you hear about. According to the developer, burning it produces nothing more than water vapor. (I’ll have to take him at his word; I wasn’t about to set my iFoldAway on fire.)
By the way, it works not just with iPhones, but also iPod Touches, Android phones, and just about anything else that’s the same size and shape. And it can accommodate most cases, as long as they’re not too thick.
The stand holds your device at roughly a 45-degree angle, which is just about perfect for watching movies (or just using your iPhone as a desktop photo-frame). I particularly like the fact that I can keep it in my wallet, so it’s with me nearly everywhere I go.
Of course, this is by no means the only stand of its kind. The GoGoStand, for example, is even more wallet-friendly, and it costs just $4.99 shipped. You don’t get quite the array of color choices, but how important is that, really?
While we’re on the subject, check out my three cheap alternatives to $40 iPhone stands and four best phone stands money can’t buy. (Regarding the business-card stand that appears in both roundups, I’ve learned that unless it’s a really heavy-duty card, it may not accommodate your phone’s weight.)
