Hardware specifications and details surrounding upcoming HTC Google Android handsets are coming to light. Two models in particular, the Bravo and Supersonic, are getting a lot of attention, which leads us to believe an announcement is coming soon. Much like the Nexus One and the Sony Ericsson Xperia 10, the new wave of Android handsets seem to all have two things in common: large screens and plenty of horsepower.
The HTC Bravo resembles the Nexus One, save for a few changes. Like the Nexus One, the Bravo features a 3.7-inch screen with 800×480 pixel resolution, a 5-megapixel camera, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
In place of the trackball, however, HTC opted doe an optical joystick and rather than going with the stock Android interface, it will have Sense UI. Although we don’t know which version of Android it will use, were assuming it will be 2.1. It’s also unclear which carrier will see the Bravo or, more to the point, if it will even make its to U.S. shores.
The Supersonic looks to mark a couple of Android firsts. The touch-screen is considerably larger than most of today’s Android displays. At 4.3 inches this make it the largest we’ve seen so far, besting the 4-inch screen on the Xperia X10.
The Supersonic is also rumored to be Wi-Max capable when it arrives. Not only will this be the first Android handset equipped for the Sprint’s 4G network, but also it may be the carrier’s first Wi-Max smartphone.
Aside from the 5-megapixel camera and 3.5mm headphone jack, other specs are unknown. But if it’s anything like the recently released HTC HD2, we could be looking at 512MB ROM and 16GB microSD card memory.
Hopefully, we get some official announcements out of HTC at the upcoming Mobile World Congress. Both phones look to continue the trend of powerful Android-based devices with sleek designs.
