HTC Sensations get Ice Cream Sandwich in March, Desire next

HTC has revealed Ice Cream Sandwich is landing in a matter of weeks. A fistful of HTC Sensations will get the latest version of Android in the next six weeks, with the likes of the HTC Desire HD updating some time this year.

HTC named the phones getting some ICS love on its Facebook page. The HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE will update to Android 4.0, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich, before the end of March.

The HTC Sensation XL will follow suit shortly after its sensational siblings.

An Ice Cream Sandwich update is also promised this year for the HTC Evo 3D, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD.

A number of phones that aren’t available in the UK are also to be updated, including the Sensation 4G. Here’s HTC’s full statement:

“HTC has been working hard to get its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades ready, and we’re excited to announce that our first round of ICS upgrades will roll out by the end of March for the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XE, followed soon there after by the HTC Sensation XL.

“In addition, we can confirm Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades will be coming later this year to the HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC Evo 3D, HTC Evo Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD. Stay tuned for more updates on Ice Cream Sandwich releases in the coming weeks.”

Exciting stuff for Sensation owners, although with no timescale for updates, owners of other phones could still have a long time to wait. You don’t need to tell us Android updates are a hot topic, and that’s certainly true for HTC owners: in less than half an hour the Facebook post has racked up 845 Likes and 416 comments.
