HTC One Mini leaks in pictures, set for August release

It was only this morning that we highlighted the latest rumours of a mini version of the HTC One — and now there are leaked pictures to prove it. If it is real, the HTC Mini joins the Samsung Galaxy S4’s S4 Mini in a new trend of sawn-off spin-offs.

The existence of the One Mini — and the name, while we’re at it — is still unconfirmed by HTC, but this seems like the strongest proof yet that a smaller version of the One is on the cards. Another possible name doing the rumour rounds is the HTC M4.

Estonian blog Delfi shows off photos purporting to show the mini One, claiming the phone will go on sale in August in Europe. The price tag is reported to be around £260 in Europounds, but we’d guess it would cost more than that on this side of the channel once the usual Blighty mark-up is applied.

Unlike many leaked photos, which appear to have been shot one-handed on a pinhole camera by someone standing on one leg in the middle of a hurricane, these leaked shots are pretty detailed, showing off the alleged One Mini from all angles.

The sawn-off version of the One sports a smaller 4.3-inch screen than the full-sized flagship’s 4.7-inch job. It’s encased in a similar aluminium unibody with the same narrow bezel and stylish speaker grille beneath the touch-sensitive strip bearing the home and back keys.

Like the One, the smaller phone includes HTC Sense on top of the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software. Inside is expected to be a dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, with a 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera on the back.

As our video below shows, the One is a cracking Android blower, and the purported Mini version looks pretty tasty too. We’re looking forward to August to see if a smaller One can reverse High Tech Computers’ ailing fortunes.
