Rumored HTC One M10 flagship could catch up to today’s rivals

HTC’s upcoming flagship handset could finally get a 2,560×1,440-pixel resolution, according to an unnamed source close to tech blog VentureBeat.

If true, the unannounced One M10 would be the first HTC phone to get the sharp display, one that the Samsung Galaxy line has had for a year. The handset is also tapped to have a 12-megapixel camera (HTC calls it Ultrapixel) with laser-assisted focus and a fingerprint sensor on the front.

Unfortunately for HTC, the rumored specs only bring it in line with rivals already out there in the market. That’s not good news for HTC, whose ailing phone business has slid further behind Apple and Samsung in recent years.

Rumored HTC One M10 specs:

  • Android 6.0 Marshamllow software
  • 5.1-inch 2,560 x 1,440 pixel display
  • 12-Ultrapixel rear camera with laser autofocus
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 32GB storage
  • Fingerprint scanner on home button

HTC did not respond to a request for comment.

By that point, its M10 could have a tougher battle against forthcoming phones like the rumored Samsung Galaxy S7 and the expected LG G5.

CNET will be on the ground at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona covering the show.
