The Developer Edition is decidedly not for your average smartphone user. As per its name, it’s designed for developers, hackers, and tweakers who want to play around with the phone without bumping into the limitations of the locked edition.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, the HTC One Developer Edition comes with a full 64GB of internal memory, 2GB of RAM, and an unlocked SIM card slot.
An unlocked bootloader is also part of the package, meaning you can root and reprogram the phone with custom ROMs. Such ROMs contain only the operating system and a few basic apps and leave out the extra stuff imposed by the manufacturer and carrier.
The HTC One Developer Edition is available only to buyers with a U.S. ZIP code and in limited quantities.
