Mark that calendar: the HTC One M8 is coming soon. On 25 March to be precise, meaning there’s only a month to wait before we meet the phone that could transform HTC’s ailing fortunes.
HTC has asked the press to make a note in the diary for the afternoon of Tuesday 25 March.
Unlike Samsung’s icon-tastic invitation for the S5 launch this weekend, the HTC invitation doesn’t offer any hints at the new phone.
Codenamed the M8, the sequel to the flagship HTC One could be called the HTC One 2, if that’s not too ridiculous. Leaks have pointed to a new new version of BlinkFeed and a 5-inch, 1080p screen, and could be joined by
HTC’s first wearable device and a mini version.
The unveiling will take place in London, which is a good sign when it comes to hearing UK details of the phone; launches in other countries often mean a new gadget isn’t coming to us for a while.
It also means your humble correspondents will be there in person to bring you the first news, previews and videos of the new device, so keep it CNET.
The new HTC phone won’t be among the phones and tablets making their debut at Mobile World Congress, this weekend’s technology extravaganza where the year’s coolest kit is unveiled.
