HTC held a swanky launch event in London overnight to celebrate the company’s next batch of Windows Phone handsets, a duo named Titan and Radar.

Titan, reminiscent in name to the popular TyTN II, will live up to its lofty moniker with a 4.7-inch WVGA resolution Super LCD display. HTC will whiz past Microsoft’s minimum hardware spec with a 1.5GHz processor and 16GB of internal storage. The Radar is smaller in size and spec, sporting a 3.7-inch display and a 1GHz processor, plus the mandatory 8GB of internal memory.
The Radar and Titan handsets will also include front-facing video cameras in readiness for Skype on Windows Phone; however, it has been reported that Skype will not be part of the Mango release, but will follow shortly after. Complementing the forward-facing cameras, the Titan will have an 8-megapixel camera on the rear, while the Radar will have a 5-megapixel shooter.
CNET UK‘s Luke Westaway was on hand at the launch and commented that the Titan’s screen was “very bright and clear with a good viewing angle, so it’s great if you have a couple of mates crowding round to watch a video with you”. He also said that the enormous screen wasn’t uncomfortable to use and that its 9.9mm thickness made it easy to slip into a jean’s pocket.
Both handsets will run on the updated Mango version of Windows Phone (otherwise known as version 7.5), which Microsoft has tipped will include over 500 tweaks and enhancements over the previous version of Windows Phone 7. Some of these improvements include a new universal search feature, Twitter integration and Wi-Fi internet sharing.
