Holiday, celebrate, as a great woman once said. Let’s celebrate the HTC Holiday, a powerful new Android smart phone revealed in pictures leaked on the Internet.
Photos of the phone first appeared at the XDA Developers forum, spotted by SlashGear, but have now disappeared.
The Holiday sports a whopping 4.5-inch touchscreen. At that size it competes with the Samsung Infuse 4G
and Dell Streak, tablet-phones that push the upper limit of pocket-friendliness. It’s a qHD screen with a resolution of 540×960 pixels.
We’re presuming the screens on the finished version won’t be all smashed up: clearly the mystery Holiday owner is better at leaking phones than gripping them.
A picture of the phone’s specs reveal it packs 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera on the back for photos and video and a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front for video calling. It also includes 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0.
Inside the phone is a dual-core 1.2GHz processor.
Word on the street is it could be the same chip as the HTC Sensation.
The back of the phone appears to have some kind of dock or charging connection on it. It also bears the legend ‘California’, whatever that means.
The pictured phone includes an app that suggests it’ll be released on AT&T in the US. That means it’ll work here in Europe as AT&T uses an HSPA network like ours — Verizon phones run on CDMA and are expensive paperweights outside the US of A — but it could well pack 4G technology we don’t have.
As leaks go, this one throws up as many questions as answers. How did the screen get broken? Will it be called Holiday when it goes on sale? Which version of Android will it run?
