HTC Desire 500 is a mid

HTC is looking to stir more desire in your loins with its latest phone to come to the UK, the HTC Desire 500.

The Desire 500 is a new 4.3-inch mid-range Android smart phone with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, officially announced today and potentially in shops this month.

On the front you’ll spot a 1.6-megapixel camera for video chat, and on the back an 8-megapixel camera powered by HTC’s ImageChip processor.

The Desire 500 also features BlinkFeed, which divides opinion. As in, some people hate it… and some people really hate it.

I’m kidding, it’s not that bad. It’s just that you can’t add your own news sources and, worse, you can’t turn it off, so if you don’t like the interface — which pulls in a selection of news and information onto your home page — you’re stuck with it. If you really want to get rid of BlinkFeed, you can at least push it out of the way with a launcher app: here’s our guide to getting rid of BlinkFeed.

The Desire 500 comes in black or white with blue bits. HTC will drop dual-SIM and NFC versions in some countries. It’s scheduled to land in selected countries this month, although full UK release date and prices are yet to be detailed. HTC has at least confirmed the Desire 500 will definitely come to Britain.
