Ever since HP bought Palm in April 2010, we’ve been waiting to see new products come out of the partnership. We’ll finally get our first glimpse on February 9 when the company is expected to unveil the PalmPad, as well as other mobile devices, but even better news is that we won’t have to wait long for them to come to market.
Speaking to the BBC during the World Economic Forum, HP CEO Leo Apotheker said that the new products, which will carry a new name under the HP brand, will be on sale just a few weeks after the February 9 event.
“HP will stop making announcements for stuff it doesn’t have. When HP makes announcements, it will be getting ready to ship,” said Apotheker.
In addition, he said that the company will unveil something big on March 14 that shows the “vision of what HP is capable of in the future.” Apotheker admits there are “a few holes” in HP’s portfolio but hopes that “one day people will say, ‘this is cool as HP,’ not ‘as cool as Apple.'”
A little friendly competition never hurt anyone, especially the consumer in this case, so we’re definitely excited to see what HP has on tap.
