How to set up the Pebble Time

Setting up the Pebble Time is similar to the company’s previous smartwatches, with the biggest change being that a new Pebble Time-specific app is required for the setup process.

You can download the new app from either Apple’s App Store or Google’s Play Store (we will add links once the apps are live).

  • After installing the Pebble Time app, launch it and tap on the button indicating you have a Pebble Time you’d like to setup.
  • Enter your Pebble account information, or create a new account if you’re new to Pebble’s platform.
  • Pair your watch to your smartphone by following the prompts. Your watch will display four unique characters along the bottom of the screen to aid in helping you identify which watch is yours.

Once pairing is complete, the Pebble Time app will check to ensure your watch has the latest firmware installed. If an update is needed, your watch will show a progress indicator as the update is downloaded and installed.

After the update is installed, return to the Pebble Time app on your smartphone and follow the prompts.

iPhone users will be asked to grant the Pebble Time permission to use your location and receive notifications. One other step of setting up a second Bluetooth connection (referred to in the app as Bluetooth LE) is required.

Android users will need to select a language for voice commands, as well as enable notifications in a second screen.

With that out of the way, you can select a watchface and begin downloading or installing apps on your shiny new Pebble Time. Woohoo!
