When asked if you’d rather give up your smartphone or your friends for a week, what would you say? Presumably, everyone would choose friends over a device. But a recent survey by Motorola Mobility and B2X suggests that’s not quite the case.
Interviewing 518 people in the US, the companies concluded, “Americans are addicted to their smartphones.” Apparently, one in seven people said a week without friends was preferable to a week without their smartphone, according to Recode.

And, it doesn’t stop there. While 74 percent of people keep their devices within close reach throughout the day, 60 percent sleep with their phones — and this number increases to 84 percent for the 18- to 29-year-old group.
