Google on Tuesday unveiled Nexus Protect, a two-year extended warranty program designed to cover your broken smartphones.
The program costs $69 for the Nexus 5X and $89 for the Nexus 6P, the two new smartphones shown off at the Internet giant’s event in San Francisco on Tuesday. With Nexus Protect, the company will replace the smartphone if it breaks down by itself or you accidentally damage it.
Google is the latest company to introduce a warranty program, which has become a popular way to reassure consumers about their products. Apple has long had its Apple Care add-on service, but other companies such as HTC and Chinese vendors such as Hauwei offer warranties for free.
Google said the program is quick enough that you would be able to get a new Nexus smartphone as early as the next business day.
