Google Play UK gets TV shows, puts Luther on Android

At Google Play you can now press play on some of your favourite TV shows. Google has finally added TV to download to your Android device, including top British telly like Luther, Doctor Who and Peppa Pig.

The UK is the first country after the US to see TV shows go on sale at Google Play.

There are TV shows from a range of studios and producers, including the BBC, Discovery, National Geographic, Sony and more. Other popular shows include Suits, The Big Bang Theory, and Homeland. Or you can check out The Walking Dead instead of on LoveFilm, and catch up on Breaking Bad before the final series makes its debut on Netflix the day after each episode is aired in the US.

Individual TV episodes cost £1.89 on Google Play for standard definition quality, or £2.49 for high definition. Buy a season pass and you get all the episodes in a given series, usually at a discount.

The new line-up of TV shows joins the range of apps, games, ebooks, magazines and movies you can buy or rent from Google Play to download to your Android phone or tablet, or stream online.

What do you think of the prices of TV on Google Play? Is Netflix better value or is there a better option? Tell me in the comments how you watch telly, or change the channel to our Facebook page.
