Google Nexus 7 dock finally docking, costs £25

For those about to dock, we salute you. The long-awaited dock for the Google Nexus 7 is finally about to sail into shops, costing £25.

The dock packs a micro-USB port and 3.5mm audio-out to plug in speakers and start pumping out your choons.

The tablet sits at an angle, placed sideways in landscape orientation so you can watch movies, TV and videos or consult a recipe or webpage while juicing up the battery.

To charge your Nexus 7, you only need to drop the tablet roughly into place. It uses pogo-pins to charge, meaning there’s no need to connect any cables or even really dock the tablet properly.

Considering it’s a bit of plastic with two sockets in, it’s a mystery why the dock has taken so long to arrive — we first reported on it back in August. The Nexus 7 and its little brother the Nexus 4 smart phone have seen delays too: the Nexus 4 has been sold out almost continually since an hour after going on sale, while the £160 16GB Nexus 7 is currently sold out too.

At the moment, the only accessories for the Nexus 7 are basic coloured covers and a spare charger, but we’re expecting a posh cover at some stage.

The Nexus dock is expected in the next fortnight. In the meantime, check out our incredibly super-handy 25 Nexus 7 tips or press play to see what we thought of the excellent Google tablet.
