The new Google Nexus 7 could be followed shortly by a new 10-inch version, built once again by Samsung.
The sequel to the wallet-friendly 7-inch Nexus 7 was unveiled yesterday, showing off new Android 4.3 software and a beautifully high-resolution screen. And the Nexus 10 could get a similar update soon.
Amir Efrati of the Wall Street Journal was at the launch of the new Nexus, where Android boss Sundar Pichai reportedly told him to expect a Samsung-built Nexus “in the near future.”
Nexus phones and tablets are designed to show off the latest version of Android. They’re branded as Google devices but are built by other manufacturers. The current Nexus 7 is built by Asus and the Nexus 4 phone is built by LG. The current Nexus 10 10-incher comes courtesy of Samsung.
A new model would show off the Android 4.3 update, which adds user profiles so your kids or other half can borrow your tablet. Fingers crossed we’ll see an improved screen too — and all at the same bargain price, if we’re lucky.
The new Nexus 7 is expected in the UK in “weeks.” Prices are yet to be confirmed.
