Google Nexus 5 left in bar spills secrets in new video

We’ve all done it: you’re in the pub and you wander away for a minute to play the fruitie, point percy at the porcelain or top up your frozen Pina Colada — and leave your phone on the table. Except we’ve never done it with the eagerly anticipated follow-up to one of the world’s hottest phones, as one hapless Google employee did with their prototype Google Nexus 5, sequel to the Nexus 4.

Yes, the quaffing Googler left their phone to charge in a bar, little suspecting the bartender was an eagle-eyed phone fan poised to pounce for a quick hands-on video.

Luckily for the Big G, the phone-focused drinks dispatcher doesn’t know the password and can’t unlock the phone, so has to go back to spilling drinks rather than spilling the secrets of the Nexus 5’s new Android KitKat software.

Previously seen briefly in the video unveiling Android KitKat and subsequent mock-ups by fans, the new 5-inch Nexus smart phone is set to replace the Nexus 4 very soon — in fact, the Nexus 4 is busy selling out and Google is reportedly not planning to restock it.

It’s not clear whether these reflect the final design of the phone, which is built by LG. Leaked specs suggest the 5-inch phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor.

Can the new Nexus compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One and the iPhone 5S and 5C? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook page.
