Gameloft is asking Android smart phone gamers to give some of its top titles a go for free.
The games are Real Football 2010, Asphalt 5, Assassin’s Creed, Dungeon Hunter, Gangstar: West Coast Hustle, Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X., Hero of Sparta, Let’s Golf!, Modern Combat Sandstorm, N.O.V.A Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance and UNO. A game based on James Cameron’s Avatar will also be available soon.
Most of these are only available for free from Gameloft’s online shop, using your mobile web browser rather than the Android Market. You can also download the games straight to your computer by clicking on this link.
It’s an odd choice by Gameloft to make you download HD games in this way, rather than through the Android Market. It forces you to switch off an option on your phone that prevents the install of programs from unknown sources, potentially raising security issues. Having said that, it you change the setting back again afterwards, you should be fine.
