From the VX9800 to the Genesis: A LG retrospective
+4 more
LG has made many phones throughout the years, but few of them have been as popular as its LG EnV series of feature phones. From the VX9800 all the way to the EnV Touch, these dual-screen flip messaging phones have long been best sellers due to their roomy keyboards and unique flip form factor.
Recently, LG released the LG Genesis for U.S. Cellular, which has the same dual-screen flip design, but it’s an Android smartphone instead of a feature phone. It ships with Android 2.2, has two capacitive touch screens instead of one, a 5-megapixel camera and camcorder, Wi-Fi, DLNA support, and more.
Since the Genesis is essentially the grown-up version of the LG EnV series of phones, we thought it would be interesting to look back at the history of LG’s dual-screen flip phone, as it evolves from the clunky VX9800 to the sleeker EnV 2 and eventually to the touch-screen models of the Voyager, the EnV Touch, and the Genesis.
