The phone known as the Samsung Galaxy Alpha has been the center of a storm of rumors. Known at one time as the Galaxy S5 Prime, this is the premium metal Samsung device that has been talk of the town for much of the year, one that Samsung seems to admit to in a recent statement.
One thing that Android-leakers can’t seem to decide on is just how high-end the Alpha specs will be — some say high, some say not so much. Benchmark scores have surfaced for the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, but the latest scores suggest the Galaxy Alpha might be able to hang with some of the bigger dogs. That is, of course, provided the numbers weren’t manipulated or skewed to favor the Samsung smartphone.

The AnTuTu results obtained by GSM Arena show the “Alpha” ranking higher than the Samsung Galaxy S5 , HTC One M8 , and others, which suggests it could feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset.
According to the recent rumors, the Galaxy Alpha could have a 4.7-inch 720p display, a 12-megapixel rear shooter, a front-facing 2.1-megapixel camera, and a 1,850mAh battery. Powered by Android 4.4 Kitkat, the LTE-ready smartphone could also have an eject-able nano SIM card slot.
It shouldn’t be long before we can finally put this one to bed; an announcement could come as soon as Wednesday, August 13, though there’s still a chance we won’t see it until IFA the first week in September.
Samsung has declined to comment on all rumors and speculation regarding this phone.
