Flappy Bird has flapped its last. The hugely popular — and highly annoying — mobile game has crashed back to earth, pulled from app stores after getting gamers in a flap over tough gameplay, alleged fake reviews, and all manner of flappy alternatives.
The game’s developer Dong Nguyen took the game off the Apple App Store and Google Play this weekend after its meteoric rise went hand-in-hand with a torrent of abuse and harassment from fans, including gamers yelling about killing themselves or killing him.
Man, people are weird.
Nguyen is reported to have feathered his nest with as much as $50,000 a day from the short-lived game, which has been downloaded over 80 million times.
If you’re addicted to tapping and flapping, here’s where you can play the game: on your phone. It’s gone from app stores and won’t have any more updates, but that doesn’t mean it’ll disappear from your dog and bone.
And if you’re late to take to the skies for a flappy fix, there are plenty of birds of a similar feather, including Flappy Bird alternatives like Dong Nguyen’s Super Ball Juggling and rivals Clumsy Bird, Flappy Bee, or Iron Pants. You can even play Tiny Bird on your Pebble smart watch.
