Though the event — in which LG is expected to reveal its latest G2 handset — has been known about for a while, these invites follow LG’s new promotional campaign, which launched earlier today.

The event will take place on August 7 at Lincoln Center in New York, at 11 a.m. PT. Be sure to check back with CNET, as we will be there to cover the conference.

The G2 is expected to have a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, a 13-megapixel camera, and Android 4.2.2.

Interestingly enough, LG has dropped the Optimus moniker from the flagship’s name. Instead, it will use this device as the inaugural smartphone for its premium “G” line of handsets.
