Popularity of Apple products has always brought out scammers, hoping to prey on the wish list’s of potential targets. Currently, a Facebook scam promises to send consumers a brand-new iPhone 4 or iPad 3G for testing. In return for your opinion, you get to keep the device.

Well, not to dash your hopes and dreams of owning one of Apple’s latest iDevices, but signing up at the linked site will not result in a shipped product. These types of scams are only designed to get user information and spread throughout the Facebook network.

This scam has also been appearing in picture galleries in the Wall Photos album. As recommended by security guru and blogger Graham Cluley, when you see these types of scams on your Facebook account, you should immediately change your password. Be sure to choose something that is difficult to guess but easy for you to remember. Do not use dictionary words. Try replacing letters with numbers or abbreviating a memorable phrase.
You should also go through your Facebook account privacy settings. This, of course, can be a daunting task, but it’s well worth it. Check all your Page likes and be sure only Applications you have allowed to access your account are doing so. You might also want to run a virus scan on your computer to be sure nothing has been installed due to malicious codes.
