Designer wants hand with hands

San Francisco-based designer Seth Quest needs help. In return, he’ll help you solve what he thinks is a common problem with the iPad–how to use it hands-free.

With the successful Kickstarter funding of many iPhone and iPad accessories, Quest is hoping to get his product in the mix. Hanfree aims to solve a relatively common issue many iPad users face. Using your iPad in bed can become tiresome, having to constantly adjust how you’re sitting or lying, and how you’re holding the device. Quest’s site says:

The case allows you to simply snap the iPad into place and fits the iPad securely. It has an integrated ball and socket joint which allows 360 degrees rotation, which makes it easy to switch from landscape or portrait modes.

Hanfree enables you to “effortlessly” hang the iPad from a stainless steel neck, enabling you to view your videos, surf the Web, use your favorite Apps, or listen to music, without having to hold the iPad at all.

“My design philosophy has been shaped by everything I have ever experienced in life,” Quest writes on his Web site. “I believe in ‘design thinking,’ and designing for the greater good. I used to make objects, now I’m more interested in creating new experiences.”

For a $50 donation to Quest’s project, you’ll be preordering a Hanfree (which will retail for $79.95) and helping to get an innovative product off the ground.

What’s the best case for the iPad 2 you’ve seen so far? Let me know in the comments!
