Time-lapse photography is a fun, creative way to capture activity over an extended amount of time. A camera takes a succession of photographs at a set interval, and when it’s finished it puts them all together in one video.

The end result can be pretty impressive, especially if you find yourself in the Swiss Alps.

HTC’s Re Camera offers the ability to capture a time-lapse video with just a few taps.

  • Launch the Re Camera app on your smartphone and connect to the camera.
  • Once connected, tap on the viewfinder button (the camera icon along the top).
  • To the right will be an icon with a small clock on it; tap on it.

This section of the app is where you can start and stop a time-lapse video from. You can use the default settings of capturing a photo every 10 seconds for 90 minutes, or by tapping on clock icon in the lower-left corner of the screen (just below the shutter button) you can customize the timing.

Adjusting the settings is as simple as entering a new number for both seconds between shots, and the total amount of time elapsed from the first to last shot.

When you’re ready to start capturing, tap on the shutter release in the app and the countdown timer will begin. Experiment with both settings, as well as the quality of the video created to find something that works best for you.
