CNET UK says HTC One S is slim, fast, and ICS is tasty

The second most powerful Android smartphone in HTC’s new lineup, the international HTC One S, boasts a 1.5GHz dual-core chip, an 8-megapixel camera, Ice Cream Sandwich, and the company’s freshest version of its Sense UI (4.0). According CNET UK, it all adds up to one delectable device.

Even though the HTC One S doesn’t flaunt a full-blown Tegra 3 quad-core CPU like its big brother, the HTC One X, apparently it’s still quite a nimble mobile machine. It managed to beat out the Samsung Galaxy S II and Sony Xperia S on benchmark tests, but understandably couldn’t catch the One X. Menus and apps materialized instantly when commanded.

Images the HTC One S snapped were pleasing, too, with impressively shallow depth of field. The phone’s sensor captures video in 1080p HD, something I expect all modern Android handsets to offer. Of course the folks at CNET UK didn’t love everything about HTC’s midtier phone. Check out the full review of the HTC One S for more details.
