Don’t want to run iOS 5? Get Chronic-Dev Team’s Crash Reporter software and help them jailbreak iDevices.

Whether or not the masses actually jailbreak their iPhones, it seems as though users are willing to support the work that the jailbreak community is doing, feeding the Chronic-Dev Team with more than 10 million crash reports in a single week after the release of the Chronic-Dev Crash Reporter application.

The app was created for Mac and Windows and, once installed, allows the Chronic-Dev Team to access the crash reports from your iOS devices before they are sent to Apple. Once accessed, they are sent instead to a server run by the Chronic-Dev Team and analyzed.

That data is then used to find exploits in the iOS code that allows the jailbreak community to create stable jailbreak methods for people wishing to circumvent Apple’s iOS and install non-scrutinized applications on their iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches.

Joshua Hill, aka, p0sixninja (a Chronic-Dev Team head honcho), tells iDownloadBlog.com that users have submitted over 10 million crash reports since the Chronic-Dev Team released their app about a week ago.

These reports come from iDevices worldwide and the Chronic-Dev Team is working hard to parse and analyze the data. They are using Google’s MapReduce software to help with the task, which according to Hill, allows his team to “run tests that would take days normally in only seconds.”

No official date for an iOS 5 jailbreak has been released, though Hill claims several key exploits have already been uncovered. Are you going to jailbreak your iOS device? Have you submitted a crash report to Chronic-Dev Team? Let me know in the comments!
