BlackBerry Messenger (or BBM), a marquee messaging app for the BlackBerry OS is coming to Apple’s iOS soon.

Alex Kinsella, a longtime mobile manager at BlackBerry, Tweeted today that the company submitted the first-ever iOS version of its communicator to Apple two weeks ago.

According to a third-party app store tracker, it currently takes Apple four days to review an app. That ostensibly puts BBM for iOS a week and a half behind the average review length…assuming that’s all there is to the story.

BBM is a hot topic these days for BlackBerry. The handset-maker is reportedly considering buyout offers that could include spinning BlackBerry Messenger into its own division and selling to the highest bidder.

In addition, the mobile messaging app is coming to some Samsung Galaxy phones, according to Samsung Africa.

The only thing that’s clear now is that BlackBerry hopes to have its iMessage- and What’s App-competitor in place before thenext-generation iPhone hits shelves.
