Happy BB10 day, you guys! The next generation of Blackberry software is revealed today, along with the new Z10 and X10 phones — and the new-look BlackBerry World is ready and waiting for a new line-up of music and movies.
The BlackBerry World online app store has been renamed from BlackBerry App World to reflect the fact that it will now sell films, music, games, TV shows and more. Sadly there’s no actual films or TV shows in the store yet, but BlackBerry builder RIM has inked deals with film studios and record labels including 20th Century Fox, Disney, Sony and Warner Music Group.
When the store is ready, films are set to appear at the same time as DVD release, while TV episodes will be available the day after telly broadcast.
The launch event kicks off at 3pm today, and we’ve sent our intrepid away team down there to do a level one diagnostic on the new BlackBerry kit. Stick with us for a first look at the new phones and software, as we report from BlackBerry’s London launch this afternoon.
The all-touchscreen BlackBerry Z10 is an LTE phone that’s one of the first to be ‘4G -ready’ for when networks other than EE launch their 4G services in May. It’s set to be officially unveiled today alongside the X10, which sports a traditional Qwerty keyboard as well as a tactile display.
Mobile networks including Vodafone and EE plan to rush the Z10 and BB10 into your hands toots sweets — even if it’s not available to order by end of play today, as planned, it should be in shops from tomorrow.
What do you want to see in BlackBerry 10? Are you going to give the Z10 a whirl? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook page.
