iPhone cases come in all shapes and sizes. Well, OK, the shape and size tend to be pretty uniform, but there’s certainly no end to the variety and versatility of iPhone cases.

Like the one that adds a tripod mount. And the one that adds a fold-out keyboard. And don’t forget the licensed “Star Wars” iPhone cases and custom photo iPhone cases.

Now, for those people who feel the pen is mightier than the thumb, there’s the binder-clip iPhone case. Designed for the iPhone 4 and 4S, it adds a mini-clipboard to your device — ideal for those times when you want to jot a few notes, old-school.

From the front, the case looks like a pretty typical plastic wraparound. At the rear, however, you’ll find a spring-loaded clip atop a metal (or at least metallic-looking) plate.

You could clip any number of items to your iPhone: a small memo pad, a couple business cards and/or credit cards, even a small stack of tissues.

Alternately, you could use the clip to hang your iPhone from a pocket or belt, or even to wear around your neck with a lanyard.

The case is available in vertical or horizontal orientations (i.e. the clip is near the top or along the side), with your choice of black or silver rear plating. It sells for $25.10, not including shipping from Japan (which, unfortunately, works out to about $13).

That’s a little steep, but if you frequently find yourself wishing for a way to scribble some notes on the one item that’s always by your side, the binder-clip case might be just the ticket.

If not, there’s always the iPhone case with the built-in thumbdrive. Like I said: all shapes and sizes.
