Aussie iPhone slated for July 23?

in brief Blog iPhone in Australia is claiming to have the inside word on the as yet unannounced iPhone 4 release date for Australia. It claims that employees of local Apple Stores are being asked to start early on Friday, 23 July, and that no staff member is allowed to request leave for this day.

The timing mentioned would correspond with iPhone launch days in previous years, which also occurred on Fridays, and would also fit Apple’s claim to have the iPhone 4 in Australian stores “by the end of July”. This is hardly concrete proof of the accuracy of this claim, though, and speculation is always rife in the weeks before a new iPhone is released.

Aussie telcos Telstra, Optus, Virgin, Vodafone and 3 Mobile have all confirmed they will be selling the iPhone 4 when it is officially released.
