AT&T subscribers who own a Nokia Lumia 820 or 920 should see the new Amber update arrive today.

Responding to a barrage of anxious Lumia owners asking about the Amber update on AT&T’s support forum, the forum’s community manager responded with the following statement:

AT&T has completed testing the Nokia Lumia 820/920 Windows Phone software update on our network. We expect Microsoft to make the update available beginning 10/10. When the software update is available for you to download, Windows Phone will notify you so you can download it directly over a Wi-Fi connection. We appreciate your patience.

Represenatives for AT&T and Microsoft confirmed to CNET that the rollout has begun.

The Amber update kicked off in August and has already reached most other Lumia phones. Nokia has promised that the update will be available for the Lumia 920, 820, 720, 620, 520, 928, 822, 521, and 810.

Amber brings several enhancements to the Lumia lineup, including better photo features and a glance screen. Accompanying Amber is Microsoft’s GDR (General Distribution Release) 2, which carries its own set of new features and improvements for Lumia phones.

Updated 12:25 p.m. PT: with confirmation that the update has started to roll out.
